Youth Champions’ Field Trip Recap: Mock Interview
On Saturday, April 20, Youth Champions hosted a successful Mock Interview Field Trip at Southgate Auditorium! The event aimed to equip students with practice on pivotal networking skills. The goal was simple: learn how to introduce yourself, shake a hand, ask a question, and excuse yourself from a conversation with a professional. This may seem simple, but it’s rarely taught to young people! A huge thank you to everyone who participated this weekend – it was truly an incredible turnout and very meaningful for our students! We couldn’t have done it without you!
Each of approximately forty adults in different professions (ranging from engineer to stunt double) sat in little pods throughout the room. Students traveled from individual to individual, learning key information from professionals. These mock interviews allowed students to practice their communication skills, showcase their strengths, and receive constructive feedback to help them improve.
Throughout the day, students demonstrated professionalism, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn. They actively participated in the mock interviews, asked insightful questions, and showed a genuine interest in honing their interview skills. The students expressed gratitude for the opportunity to participate in such a valuable learning experience and highlighted the importance of preparation, confidence, and authenticity in interviews!
Overall, the Mock Interview Field Trip at Southgate Auditorium was a huge success, thanks to the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, industry professionals, and, of course, our amazing students. Here’s to more exciting learning opportunities ahead!
