Student Spotlight: Joseph Dominguez

Joseph Dominguez, First-Generation Student at Linda Marquez High School HPIAM

The reading of “The Four Agreements” will always stand out to me. The second agreement, “Don’t take things personally,” has helped me navigate rejection during the college application process. I had to change my mindset and make it clear that what others say should not affect how I view myself. In my freshman year, I would not have been able to even fathom that I would be going to a 4-year university. Now, I have a scholarship to Emory University to get my Bachelor’s in Business Finance. I am thankful to Youth Champions and its amazing mentors for improving my mental well-being, supporting me through the college application process, and for motivating me to change my mindset.
